Pedological and phytocoenological characteristics of conifer plantations in Celinac area

Abstract

The research work was carried out at the area of the municipality Čelinac close to the cultivated area. Research includes soil and phytocoenosis investigation for the forest cultures of the Scots Pine, the Black Pine, spruce, Douglas-fir and White Pine. The aim of this study was to determine the main morphological, physical and production characteristics of the investigated soil types and to meet the floristic composition and structure of phytocoenoses for habitats on which they built these conifer plantations. Pedological research has shown that in the study area existing five types of soil: district cambisols on sandstones, eutric cambisols on serpentinite, eutric cambisols on alluvial-diluvial peridotitic-serpentinite layer, luvisol on serpentinite and pseudogley on sandstones and cherts. Phytocoenological observation have found three communities: Carpinetum betuli Wrab. 1960, Quercetum petraeae-daleschampi serpentinicum Stef.1984 and Carpino-Quercetum petraeae cerridis B.Jov. et Tom. 1980.
