Keywords:
forest roads, modern methods, GPS devicesAbstract
The openness of forest with forest road network is one of the primary problems in the forestry of Republic of Srpska and BiH. Current openness is around 8,7 m/ha which is far below the average EU countries with developed forestry (Austria 40 m/ha). This work elaborates issues of forest road network planning with improved methods using modern equipment such as GPS devices for field collecting data, and the software AutoCAD and Roadeng for processing data. The research facility is in the Forest Economic District ‘’Banjalucko“, Management Unit ‘’Crni Vrh’’. Data were collected in two different ways: the classic way with tape and pedometer and the modern way using GPS. Collected data were compared with the aim of estimating modern methods accuracy.
