Abstract

In the paper are described and compared basic principles of modem production of Christmas trees in Europe and North America. It is emphasizes that work in plantations of Christmas trees involves elements of both forestry and agricultural production. As important segments of production, questions of adequate species selection and protection against phytopatogenic agents and insects have been treated. Also, market demands, including standards and trends in production, together with competition in European and world market, have been elaborated. Ecological and economical aspects of production were treated as separate entireties.
