The period of flowering of spring perennials in the forest communities in the area around Banja Luka was analyzed. Field research was conducted on two sites in Trapisti forest and forest on Banj Brdo. The comprehensive analysis was conducted about the beginning, duration and completion of the flowering phenophase of spring perennials, which have to finalize this part of the life cycle before leaf unfolding of upper forest floors. These sites, although located relatively close and therefore in the same climatic region, differ in the geologic, orographic and vegetation characteristics. Consequently, forest communities on Banj Brdo and in Trapisti provide different environmental conditions for survival and distribution of plants as well. The results of this paper confirm this thesis. A larger number of species located in the area of Banj Brdo begun flowering phenophase earlier, and also this period lasted longer for most species in this area in comparison to the forest Trapisti. Different diversity of flora of this group of plants was also ascertained because many plants which are present on Banj Brdo are absent in the woods in the area of Trapisti.
