Conifers as potential raw material for ethereal oil production

Abstract

Republic of Srpska possesses a great potential of verdure which could be used for the industrial production of ethereal oils. Ethereal oils are of a great importance for various industry branches (food, pharmaceutical). This is why people attach so much importance to ethereal oil extraction from raw material and to determination of their composition although there are insufficient data on this topic. However, the use of verdure of a conifer, ie live and small branches with needles which diameter is up to 2 cm, as a raw material for ethereal oil production is not indisputable. For extraction of ethereal oil water and steam distillation are
most frequently used methods so far.
