Abstract

The paper presents the status, importance and multifunctional forest ecosystems in the area of Mrkonjic City municipality, in the function of improving the environment in general. Natural resources are a great potential of this area, and the ways of management are aimed at their maximum impact on the environment and the establishment of natural ecological balance between the present state and more growing needs of the society. The problems, causes and objectives of sustainable management of forest riches are mentioned, based on the analytical methods related to previous findings in the area of impact on the forest ecosystem preservation, protection and improvement of the environment. It is pointed out to basic guidelines that lead to the improvement of status, in other words improvement of all the general useful functions of forest area.
