Integration of the B&H forestry within the activities of mitigation the climate change consequences: Kyoto protocol opportunities and prospects
Keywords:

Bosnia and Herzegovina ratified Kyoto protocol on 6 April 2007, which went into force on 15 July 2007. Facts that B&H is a Non-Annex I country and a country with a significantly low level of greenhouse gas emission in 1990, and also a country in transition, offer B&H a large scope of opportunities to integrate into joint activities aiming at climate change mitigation. B&H is an important partner in the above-mentioned activities with its 50% of forest-covered areas and with a large portion of degraded areas (bare mountainous terrain, rocky ground, areas untended due to population migration). An emphasis should be put on forestry sector in undertaking the listed and anticipated activities, setting a good example of international collaboration among developing countries in Kyoto Protocol implementation.
