Species of Nectria genus in beech forests
Keywords:
Nectria coccinea, N. galligena, N. cinnabarina, N. ditissima, beech standsAbstract
Beech has been increasingly infected by bark disease (necrosis and cancer) inducers in Europe and in some areas within our region for the last few decades. The most common biotic inducers of these diseases are fungi out of Nectria genus. This paper lists Nectria spp. inhabiting beech forests of seedlings and sprout origin. Out of many Nectria spp which inhabit our forests the following species were identified: N. coccinea, N. ditissima, N. galligena and N. cinnabarina. Research work conducted over several years has shown that there is a correlation between stand type and habitat condition, and occurrence of disease and attack intensity.
