Damages on forest and agricultural crops made by game

Abstract

This paper describes the damages on forest and agricultural crops grown in hunting grounds which can be made by a roe deer (Capreolus capreolus L.), wild boar (Sus scrofa) or a brown bear (Ursus arctos L). The damages on forest and agricultural crops in the examined localities have been analyzed as well as the state of herein mentioned game species together with hunting and animal housing buildings in a hunting ground. The reasons responsible for damages made by a forest game are most often provoked by a deficiency of food in habitat or its bad quality and uneven distribution, by a disturbance of the game and need for a greater quantities of energy, but sometimes also by a certain habits of the game itself. By a suitable management measures in a hunting ground these damages can either be reduced or prevented.
