Abstract

Rehabilitation of sites degraded by open-cut mining of mineral ores is a very painstaking and multidisciplinary procedure. The planned approach to opencasting should be accompanied by a parallel plan of land restoration. The rehabilitation plan includes the research and comparative analyses of all natural, anthropogenic and socio-economic conditions in the function of fi nding the optimal rehabilitation model. This paper analyses a potential rehabilitation based on the influential factors and proposes a rehabilitation model. The proposed rehabilitation model includes the technical and biotechnical measures of rehabilitation with special reference to the potential genesis of erosion processes and the land reclamation.
