Abstract

Serbian spruce (Picea omorika (Panč.) Purk.) represents a Tertiary relic and an endemic species of Bosnia and Herzegovina and European flora. In the area of Višegrad Serbian spruce grows on approximately 74 ha in five separate populations. This area has a long tradition of gathering cones and seeds, and the seed is usually declared as provenance Višegrad, regardless of the fact that this area is a habitat of five separate populations. The aim of this study is to present the genetic variability of five populations of the Serbian spruce from the area of Višegrad assessed by isoenzyme analysis.
