Abstract

The paper gives an overview of main results of the Project “Support to the implementation of the Birds and Habitats Directives in Bosnia and Herzegovina” finished at January 2015. In addition to basic objectives and methodology of the Project, the preliminary proposal of potential Natura 2000 network in Bosnia and Herzegovina is shown in detail (Figure 1; Electronic supplement 1). The surface area (Appendix 1) and presence of habitat types and species of EU importance are given per each potential site (Electronic supplement 2). The paper presents a survey of species from Annex II of the Habitats Directive and Annex I of the Bird Directive (Appendix 2), reference list of habitat types from Annex I of the Habitats Directive (Appendix 3) as well as a proposal of strictly protected species in teritory of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Appendix 4).
