Abstract

The aim of this paper is to determine the condition of beech seedlings regeneration in terms of growth and development at the territory of the Forestry Management Unit “Gradiska”. Knowing the condition and the seedling growth rate is an important indicator that shows the capability of the seedling to overcome effect of ground vegetation during the first years of growth, that enables natural regeneration of stands. The stand is under seedlings phase until the dominant seedlings do not exceed a heightlight of about 180 cm (Pintaric 1969). In this paper is also determined interactive relations and dependencies between the individual parts of seedlings in different forest communities (Podgradci and Srbac), such as height of seedlings in the first two years of growth in open and closed stands.
