Damage from snow in the forest zone of beech and fir with spruce

The belt of beech and fir with spruce is most pronounced belt of forest vegetation with us. Research that have been conducted in the area of forest managemant Vlasenica indicate that certain species of trees in the vegetation zone significantly afected by the harmful effects of snow. Snow causes mehanical damage to trees that are manifested as extracted and fractures at various heights of trees.The highest sensitivity removed showed normal spruce (65,5%), while the highest susceptibility to fractures recorded from the oak (69,5%). These types of damage result in significant reduction in the economic value of timber. In addition, damage from snow that result in physiological suitable for colonization of other harmful biotic primary causes of secondary nature. In locations investigation showed the presence of 9 insect pests of which the largest number of causes physiological damage, and a smoller leads to damage of a technical nature. In addition to insect pests of damaged tress was recorded from 5 types of epithelial fungus known as very dangerous destroyers of timber leading to significantly reducing its economic value.
