Given that forestry is an activity in which workers are exposed to a relatively high degree of risk of injury and occupational diseases, this phenomenon requires a special approach in the segment of occupational safety. The frequency of injuries and occupational diseases in forestry is a good indicator of the level of safety of workers at work. For that reason, through the analysis of injuries at work in PE “Unsko-sanske šume” ltd Bosanska Krupa tried to gain insight into the state of safety at work. The period of 10 years (2010-2019) was analyzed and in that period 213 injuries were recorded for the entire company. Analysis of injuries was performed by years and months, by place of origin, by workplace, by material source of injury, by age of worker, by injured body part, etc. Based on the number of injuries by volume of wood produced (43 / mil.m3) safety at work can be assessed as satisfactory. Limb injuries are the most common (64%), followed by injuries at the beginning of the working week (26.3%). The most common cause of injury was caused by a fall (62%). The analysis of the number of injuries by years in the analyzed period shows that they stand out in 2018, and especially in 2019, which can be related to the trend of increasing the volume of self-directed work. Also, the analysis showed that most injuries occur in the summer months. According to the analysis related to disabled people, it was established that the majority of registered disabled people in the company belong to the category of disabled people of the second category. Disabled people make up as much as 10.36% of the total workforce. For almost 80% of disabled people, the main cause of disability is a disease, ie various health problems that have reduced their ability to work. Only two workers are disabled due to an occupational disease, which is a very encouraging fact.
Despite significant technological advances and developments, forestry is still considered one of the most dangerous occupations in the world.
